Ways to Deal with Stress

  • Keep a dream inventory so you stay in line with your values, beliefs and purpose both personally and professionally.
  • Know your boundaries.
  • Have goals in each area of your life which are a priority for you.
  • Make sure all of your actions are goal-oriented.  “Invest” your time; do not “spend” it.
  • Know your own personal definition of success.
  • Keep a list of goals and achievements you have accomplished for those days you feel you have a “KICK ME” sign on your back.
  • Meditate daily-spend some quiet time with yourself, driving, exercising, and going for a walk, etc., so you can get back in touch with who you are.
  • Know what you personally need to do to calm down and feel good when you feel stress creeping in.  Go for a walk, go outside, read…whatever works for YOU.
  • Take the stressful event from your mind to paper.  Write it down.  There is power in the pen!
  • Exercise and eat foods that are good for your body.
  • Develop daily positive affirmations you can repeat to yourself in times of stress or doubt.  They must all start with the phrase, “I am a person who…”  (Ex: I am a person who is calm and relaxed at all times.)
  • Create an environment where you live and work that keeps you motivated.  Have your own special place you can go to in times of stress.
  • Talk about it with a friend.

REMEMBER:  “You can do anything, but not everything.”
